Lone Sol

My final group project for (BA) Game Development: Design at Falmouth University, Lone Sol is a 3D platformer centred on Sol, a young girl who wakes up in an empty city.

At the point of a climate calamity, her entire city was "evacuated" into aquatic, robotic bodies... except her. Alongside her robotic companion, Sol must unravel the mystery of why she wasn't included, and seek a way to save everyone!

I worked as a level designer on three levels, which saw Sol exploring a flooded cityscape, an abandoned tower, and underground science labs. I also designed the core mechanics, including a glider and a system of energy conduction using the moveable RoBo as a dynamic conduit for power.

Moving elements of the environment made up the bulk of how Sol would travel through a level, except when she needed to grab on to RoBo and fly across spaces destroyed by the flood waters.

Lone Sol was a game focused on sending an explicit message about climate change, with intent to eventually use real world examples of cutting edge green technology to promote visibility for the efforts seen around the world in the fight against global warming.
